Tidal View by ARRCC

Perched just above the blue expanse of the Atlantic Ocean in Clifton, Cape Town, this opulent yet timelessly elegant two-level ground floor apartment boasts a perfect balance between luxury and comfort. The total redesign in terms of interior architecture together with the décor furnishings, it embodies and reflects the clients love of travel in an understated and individual way. ARRCC worked with a neutral colour palette throughout the generous double volume space, allowing the majestic blue of the ocean and the sky to be the only colours that pour in through the glass expanse.

Under a slatted timber pergola an expansive terrace with spacious low-slung furniture fills the elegant outdoor space as the simple white upholstery draped in Ralph Lauren bathes in the warmth of the African sun. Indigo-dyed printed throws echo the vibrant blue of the sea and the sky.
A chic and classic entrance into the apartment sets the tone for a very sophisticated feel. An understated showcase kitchen is seen through a vision inviting porthole that halos one of the clients Anton Momberg sculptures.
A combination of high polished and matt mahogany timber finishes is used throughout the apartment creating a subtle yet consistent aesthetic interest. The rich mahogany stands proudly in carefully curated contrast to the white walls and raised panelling.
The vision for the living area was a seamless transition and coalescence between indoor and outdoor connecting to the ocean beyond. Smokey grey mirror clad columns enhance the views into spaces even more so, again reflecting light and creating a further dimension of space. A five-metre outdoor Iroko custom timber table bathes in the beauty of its surroundings as it sits invitingly on the terrace, perfect for social or family gatherings.
A noticeably pared down white kitchen which is centred by a Corian top cooking island is interestingly offset by a thought provoking and vibrant art piece. The gentle fielding in the kitchen cupboards compliments the wall panelling used throughout the apartment.
Adjacent to the kitchen, a uniquely crafted Pierre Cronje dining table and chairs enjoy the spectacular views through the glass-stacked doors which open up bring the outdoors in.
A world class selection of wines is presented in a private cellar discreetly displayed around a centred OKHA designed table and chairs.
The upper living area and personal space is designed in a way that hovers above the foyer below with an elusive connection through the double volume glass surround. Resting peacefully alongside the fireplace is another Anton Momberg sculpture that so effortlessly makes her home there, being gently illuminated by the warm glow from the geometric suspended lights through the glass surround.
Leading through to the master bedroom is a circular lobby which is accentuated by a recessed ceiling warming the room from above with dimmed light. The lobby flows through into the master living room and bedroom, boasting breath-taking views of the endless ocean.
The master bedroom is a place of quiet sanctuary where soft neutrals and plantation style shutters enhance the casual ambience of the room. Gracefully considered white linen fabrics are off-set against selected black décor items creating a real sense of elegance.
