East Coast Avenue by PI Architects

East Coast Avenue is a project designed by PI Architects. This 5-storey townhouse along the East Coast of Singapore is the home of a man with exquisite taste. Both he and his cheerful wife have travelled to and stayed at various hotel collections all over the world. Out of all the places they have been to, they have been most inspired by the sense of calm, materiality, and the spirit of place during their travels to Japan. This home is a tribute to the unquantifiable joy of travelling. Photography by PI Architects.

Midcentury Eichler Home Expanded for a Modern Family by Blaine Architects + Marshall Interiors

An extensive renovation and addition to an existing Eichler home in San Jose, CA by Blaine Architects + Marshall Interiors. The owners fully embraced mid century modern styling and design, and they bought the home because they loved how warm and inviting it felt inside. When the owners purchased the home, they had never heard of Eichler homes, and didn’t really know much about mid century modern design, however after living there for a few months, they understood the draw of the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, the extensive roof over hangs that allow one to enjoy the outdoors without walls, the exposed structural posts and beams, and the way the warm wood paneling made them feel more peaceful and grounded while at home. So when they decided they wanted to improve and enhance the concepts they loved about the home, they reached out to their architect neighbors across the street, Megan Blaine. And this became her very first independent project, and it launched her career. Photography by Jean Bai.

Haselmere Residence by Studio Amble

Haselmere Residence is a project designed by Studio Amble. A young family with four little ones were ready to overhaul their Californian Bungalow in a major renovation. The client wanted a second opinion on the existing architectural plans, which reconfigured the interior and added a new wing of modern amenity but without much flow or generosity of space. Reorientation of the kitchen and its linked areas are now more open, and intuitively and invitingly connected to each other and the back garden. Functional zones – the scullery and laundry – are allowed to disappear behind wrapped joinery finishes over the doors. Photography by Lillie thompson.

RE House by DFG Architetti

RE House is a project designed by DFG Architetti. Wood filters, digs, covers. Plants fill the spaces between the walls. Touches of pastel chase each other between the rooms. Measurement, balance, sobriety are the main features of this project, in which everything, from light to colors, from full to empty, from materials to transparencies, everything has a carefully measured weight. We attach some low resolution images (to avoid problems with the capacity of the mailboxes) and a descriptive text that also includes all the credits, from companies to the photographer. It is possible to view the entire report in high resolution on our website. Photography by Marcello Bocchieri.

Gowland House by ID Architecture

Gowland House by ID Architecture is situated to the south-east of the Kirk Ella Conservation area, a large and desirable suburb situated in East Riding of Yorkshire, on the western outskirts of Kingston upon Hull, roughly 5 miles west of the city centre. Kirk Ella incorporates three major periods of architecture, 18thcentury Georgian, 19th century Gothic Revival, and 20th century Inter-war derivatives of Mock Tudor and Arts and Craft Movement, which creates variety and individuality throughout the settlement. A varied selection of materials can be seen throughout the village, including rough textured and modern smooth brick, alongside elements of stone and render. This mixture of scale, era, and material results in a settlement with a diverse and interesting architectural character. Photography by Andy Haslam.
