Bundarra Penthouse by Marylou Sobel Interior Design

Bundarra Penthouse is a project designed by Marylou Sobel Interior Design. This transformative penthouse renovation is a masterclass in elegance, functionality, and timeless design. Tasked with reimagining the top-floor residence, Marylou Sobel and her team embraced the challenge of limited space and structural constraints to deliver a seamless, contemporary home that pays homage to the apartment’s heritage while elevating it with modern sophistication. With a client brief rooted in comfort, luxury, and longevity, the design integrates soft neutral tones, layered textures, and curated materials to create a calm and cohesive environment. Authentic finishes like natural stone, warm mid-tone timbers, wool, and Otsumigaki wall finishes lend richness and texture, interacting beautifully with natural light and providing visual continuity across each space.

Spatial planning was key. The study was relocated to become a cosy guest ‘snug’, the oversized bathroom reworked to include a walk-in linen closet, and the kitchen completely reimagined. Custom joinery with concealed power outlets and a hidden butler’s pantry creates a minimalist yet highly functional aesthetic. The fluted glass TV lift partition offers both privacy and openness.

Grigio Orsola marble is used to striking effect in the bathroom, reinforcing the theme of understated luxury. Every detail was considered—from the sculptural furnishings to the eco-conscious material choices—resulting in a residence that is refined, practical, and truly built to last.
