Elwood House by Bryant Alsop

The renovation of Elwood House expresses Bryant Alsop’s core design philosophy: creating uplifting, beautiful, and honest architecture that responds to each client and site. Photography by Jack Lovel.

This project balances Deco heritage with contemporary family living. Original 1920s elements inspired the use of curved forms, fluted detailing, and sculptural lighting, interpreted in a refined and restrained way. These gestures reference Art Deco without overwhelming the home’s modern sensibility.

Functionally, the design supports how families live today. Living zones were moved to the first floor to capture bay views and natural light. Multiple spaces allow for flexibility and connection, ensuring the home feels generous yet intimate.

Materiality reflects our belief in quiet luxury. Warm tones, layered textures, and high-quality finishes are applied with care, enhancing comfort without excess. The result is a home that feels elegant, welcoming, and deeply personal.

Elwood House is a clear expression of our belief that architecture should respect its context, enrich daily life, and stand the test of time.
