Wis TavernSmog Veil Records by Level Architecture Incorporated

Wis Tavern/Smog Veil Records is a project designed by Level Architecture Incorporated. For this project, we undertook converting a former tavern into a live-work space for a husband and wife and their record label business. The major objectives were to design for maximum energy conservation, as well as to generate energy on-site. Our goal was to combine alternative technologies and a sophisticated palette of new and reclaimed materials to co-exist in architectural harmony. This strategy also helped achieve the environmental goals of the project. Photography by Doug Fogelson.

Gore Residence by Level Architecture Incorporated

The block consists of predominantly 1 1/2 story single family wood-framed homes. Like other Chicago neighborhoods, at some point in its history the streets and sidewalks were raised, presumably for flooding reasons. Photography by Scott Shigley.
