Shangri La by RKD Architects

Shangri La is a project designed by RKD Architects. Originally designed in 1996 by Charles Haertling, after half a century this stunning 2,000 sf home was in need of a renovation; some additional space; and many interior upgrades. RKD architects was honored to be selected. This was a balance of integrating our sculptural vision with that of Haertling’s, while responding to the vision of our clients- a balance we took very seriously. We love this project, the clients do, and we hope that Haertling would have as well. photography by david lauer photography.

Quarry House by RKD Architects

Quarry House designed by RKD Architects consists of three pods, each with a curved, outward‐leaning window wall that draws the occupants to stunning ranchland views toward Kimbell Junction and the north. This home absorbs its persona from the surrounding Wasatch Mountain Range in Park City, Utah. Its lines are bold gestures that reflect the grandeur of the landscape and its huge, sweeping curves are on a scale that stands up to the expansive views in all directions. The outward‐leaning glass walls virtually pour the occupants into the valley below. Photography by David O. Marlow.
