A 1950’s Austin Ranch Gets a Cool Midcentury Makeover by Furman + Keli Architects and Mark Ashby Design in Austin. Both collaborated on the renovation of this 1950’s era ranch house. The original structure was a classic mid-century affair – typical for this west Austin neighborhood. The design team re-imagined it into modern home but kept the mid-century swank and allure. Before and after photos are below the description, it is an amazing transformation on a budget! Photography by Clay Grier.

Mark Ashby Design and Furman + Keil Architects gives a traditional ranch home, circa 1954, an updated midcentury design. The home had undergone a previous remodel in 2001 that resulted in disjointed spaces, poor circulation, and awkwardly proportioned rooms. The new homeowners challenged the architecture and design team to create a design that captured the midcentury esthetic with a sense of cohesiveness and order. The result is an airy home with natural light, warmth of materials, and contemporary spaces for daily living and favorite activities.
